Five days (18-22 Jan.) embroidery workshop was organised for the girls of balika grah. Which stitch to introduce and what not….was the challenging task. Started with basic simple stitches which were identified and selected jointly by the girls and the resource person. Demonstration- practice-review-corrections-practice…..this was the methodology. After getting a grip on stitches-needle-pattern, now it was the turn to learn how to make/draw a pattern on cloth to do embroidery. Sheetika, our volunteers, helped them to prepare templates. They themselves selected the pattern, drew on their shawls, selected the threads of their choice and started the work. Besides, the practice session, knowledge was also shared related to name of different stitches, place of origin etc. The whole workshop was based on the idea of self learning and exploring.
